Batman:
The Ride opened in March
of 1994 and became the
centerpiece of Gotham City
Backlot, one of the most
highly themed lands in the
park. The ride is an
Inverted Coaster designed
by Bolliger &
Mabillard. In this
type of design, passengers
ride below the rails in
suspended, ski-lift style
trains.
Although
Batman: The Ride is an
excellent coaster, it is
not an original
design. The coaster
is actually a clone of
Batman: The Ride located
in Six Flags Great
America, which introduced
the inverted coaster
concept. The only
major difference between
the two is the color
scheme.
The
ride stands 105-feet in
the air, reaches a maximum
speed of 50 MPH, and spans
2,700-feet in
length. This may not
seem very large by modern
standards, but the ride
packs a huge punch.
This
intense inverted coaster
features five inversions
including two vertical
loops, a heartline spin,
and two corkscrews.
The ride also features a
twisting first drop and
several high-speed turns.
Batman:
The Ride has received very
positive reviews since its
opening in 1994, and
continues to be one of the
most popular rides in the
park.
