Summary: HOLY S**T!
June 3rd, 2003
"Holy s**t!" That was my reaction when I rode it. I have driven by Desperado maybe 50 times, and everytime I would say "We gotta try that one of these days." Well, last summer became one of these days. So, I stopped at the border and give it a ride. There was no line, and I didn't hear any screams, so I figured I was about to ride a tame ride. Up the first hill I go, and I started to realize that this puppy is going up pretty high, and then I hit the apex and realized I could only see the ground. Where's the track? It's a steep drop folks. And it caught my attention when my stomach was left at the top of the hill as I plummetted to the bottom. The speed of this ride is intense from there on out. So intense, that some lady's hat and glasses came flying off, and then the train clipped a bird flying around the track and the poor thing exploded. No joke! I was very much impressed by this one. The only downfall is that it was a little rougher than most hypercoasters, but this was built a while ago. It used to be the tallest and fastest coaster in the world, believe it or not, and I can understand why. It's a beast! Don't be like me and say, "We gotta try that one of these days", just park your car and go try it. There won't be a line and it is well worth the time and money to say you rode Desperado.
