I lived in San Diego from 1993-1997, when Belmont Park and the Giant Dipper were the only game in town, and I can honestly say that more of my time at Belmont Park was spent on Giant Dipper than off. It's your basic traditional-style pay-per-ride beachfront woodie, with tight turns and steep drops due to the small patch of land it occupies. It's a little rough, but plenty of airtime, and the views of Mission Bay are unbeatable. Oddly enough, my favorite part of Giant Dipper (assuming it still exists as I remember it) is the little dip leaving the station which drops you into a tunnel, BEFORE the lift. Another very cool aspect is the walkway under the lift from the parking lot (far too rare these days).
