Summary: America's Finest
May 6th, 2003
The grandaddy of them all, the Thunderbolt has a history that stretches back all the way to 1925. The Pippin as it was then called back then, was designed by John A. Miller. In 1967 Kennywood decided they needed to add another coaster, but without much room to build a new one they decided to remodel the Pippin, master mechanic Andy Vettel left much of the ride the same, but added some amazing drops and turns. The Thunderbolt has numerous times been named the best coaster in the world, or at least the best wooden coaster in the country, and I agree completely.

And god I love those trains :)
